AeroELT AFN2

AeroELT™ AFN2

Small, Lightweight for Commercial Aircraft

The AeroELT AFN2 Automatic Fixed Emergency Locator Transmitter (AF ELT) is a two-frequency transmitter with Nav/GPS capability, and forms the core of the AFN2 System. AF type ELTs are intended to be permanently attached to an aircraft before and after a crash and are designed to aid Search and Rescue teams in locating the site of a crash. The basic system consists of a transmitter unit, connected by coaxial cable to an external antenna. Optional equipment includes a flight deck control panel, audible alarm and an Aircraft Information Module (AIM2) that contains ELT coding information.

The AFN2 AF ELT is activated automatically when an internal G-switch senses a crash impact. It may also be activated manually. When activated, the ELT provides a homing signal for civil and military search aircraft and satellites. It simultaneously transmits a swept-tone modulated signal on the civilian international aeronautical distress frequency at 121.5 MHz as well as a pulsed digital signal on the COSPAS-SARSAT frequency at 406.040 MHz.
